Occupational Therapy from Accessible Physical Therapy

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy is a dynamic and specialized healthcare field that plays a critical role in helping individuals recover their ability to engage in everyday activities, despite challenges posed by physical, cognitive, or emotional conditions. The ultimate goal of OT is to enable individuals to lead fulfilling lives by maximizing their independence and improving functional performance across a variety of tasks.

In the outpatient setting, OT professionals often work with patients experiencing musculoskeletal issues that affect the shoulders, neck, hands, and upper limbs. These areas are particularly prone to strain and injury, whether from repetitive movements, trauma, or chronic conditions such as arthritis or tendinitis. The therapist’s role is to assess the individual’s specific limitations and design customized interventions that target both physical rehabilitation and functional rest.
